VBS - High Seas Adventure

This week was Vacation Bible School at Old Capitol UMC.  We ALL had a great time and God's Word was highlighted again and again.  The kids went from station to station (30 mins each) from 9-12noon and it was obvious both kids and adults were having a good time.  Volunteers were plentiful and our director, Kelley, kept us on target.  Our daily theme began with God's Word....  Friday's theme - God's Word is for everyone!

Theme Tuesday - God's Word is comforting!  In crafts that day the children decorated small pillows that had the theme stenciled on them and they could add things that comforted them.  Lydia put all of her pets names and Avery put math formulas, an electrical metronome (or some such!) and dominoes 1 through 12.  They were priceless!  Later Tuesday afternoon, Logan (nearly 3) made a trip to his doctor for his biweekly allergy shots.  He clutched his comfort pillow to his chest and, instead of his usual cries at shot time, he only said "Ouch!"  This was God's Comfort in action!!

I loved seeing Captain Tina and her preschool crew coming down the hall.  They each held on to a yellow rope to keep them in line.....so cute!

Logan holding the rope.  I absolutely love watching this age group discovering the world And they do 'get' the Jesus message.

The "bigger guys" are pretty special too.  I just wanted to get a shot of them coming down the hall.  I didn't realize I would catch this shot of Avery and Levi figuring it all out.  These two are a perfect match!

.....and there was singing and action.  It was a delight to watch (come join us Sunday morning at Old Capitol and watch them - 9:30am).  Logan wanted to perform so bad but he just couldn't stop watching the others in action.  Soooo cute!

...and there were special snacks each day that emphasized the theme for the day.  Theme God's Word is for everyone - snack 'share fruit kabobs.'  Our Galley helpers had a great time putting the daily snacks together and the cinema team of Karen and Ginger joined us each day to bring the Bible story home.  I didn't get a picture of Clay in Bible Voyage but the kids and adults who visited that station gave it a 10 thumbs up!

At closing (near high noon on Friday - 90+ and humid) the OCUM water slide was unveiled much to the kids delight.  Safety was an issue...so only one ventured down at a time while other kids were occupied in other fun water activities.  We are blessed at Old Capitol with the perfect hill for this slide and a constant stream of water and tearless soap made for a great slide which sent the rider 6 feet or so into the grass at the bottom.  Oh, I even thought of trying it....but I didn't want to climb back up that hill

Lydia is next and she can hardly wait.................

Our Lydia's friend, Lydia, is ready to row!

Water fun was everywhere!!
THANK YOU, GOD for this wonderful Bible School week!
