Reflections on a piece of bark

I attended a retreat and each participant was given a piece of bark and told to reflect on it for some minutes and then write our reflections. Here are mine:

At first glance, this is a very insignificant, rather unattractive piece of bark. But, upon reflection, I could detect a very meaningful story coming from my bark. Its' origin was a massive tree, long-standing, proud and beautiful. It doesn't matter if it were an oak or maple or whatever - it could be as diverse as we are. The tree was shade; for children at play, for company picnics, for farmers resting after a long day in the fields. It was a sight that inspired many as its' green foilage burst forth each spring and as its' leaves turned to yellow, red and golden in the autumn sun. It was a haven and shelter for birds, squirrels and other wildlife. Yes, my little piece of bark had a grand story to tell!.........
