"I loved for her to read my storybooks to me, but I also read to her."
"I showed her all my play things. She likes music too."
"I had to show her that I like to feed myself. She always wanted to help me...I've heard grandmothers are like that."
"She said I look just like Daddy when he was my age (16 months), especially when I cracked up laughing about something."
"GranBarb said this is my 'little boy in black look.' Dad understood she meant like that 'man in black' he likes to listen to."
"One day, I found a new hangout."
"It was a great place to do a little climbing and play that 'Where's Oliver game.'
"I feared I might be getting in trouble..."
"...but when Mom laughed too, I knew it was all gonna be alright."
"Whew! All that playing around makes a guy ready for a rest. I found my old baby seat was just a great place to catch up on a little TV time."
"Curious George is one of my favorites. GranBarb said my great-Uncle Scott would be glad to know that."
"Thomas the Train is another favorite. I guess Mommy and GranBarb like it too, because they sang the song together every time."
"GranBarb even liked to play in my room. I don't know why she always moved my little rocking chair over to bar my access to my clothes drawers. It's great fun to get in there and toss the clothes out onto the floor."
"We opened my first Lego set. GranBarb said my cousin Avery would have loved to be with us to show me how to put all those pieces together."
"I finally decided it was more fun to just dump out all the pieces and put them back in the box...in and out...in and out...that was lots of fun."
"I did a lot of practice perfecting my bow while GranBarb was here. She and Mommy clapped and clapped for me."
"I also enjoyed some goofing around with Mommy. GranBarb said we were both acting like Daddy when he was little in this picture. I don't know what she meant, but she said everyone else in the family would understand."
"Mommy read one of my favorite books to me while we were on the floor in my room.""If you ever come to visit me, I will pick out one of my books from 'the wall' for you to read to me. I know all the best ones."
"We also had some outside time while GranBarb was here. She loved my backyard. She said the people in Indiana would be impressed that I had birds and squirrels and flowers and a fountain...and she liked the security booths too. One evening when we were all outside, we saw fire flies too...(GranBarb called them lightening bugs!)"
"Daddy went with us to the Seaport one afternoon. I showed GranBarb all the buildings in our neighborhood. I think she was impressed."
"One little boy came running up to me and fell down right by my stroller. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but I finally just gave in and cracked up laughing. He cried, but he really wasn't hurt."
"GranBarb said I just about wore her out riding on my bike. I didn't understand that. I was the one running up and down the halls...she just tagged along behind. I love my bike and I even told it, "Bye, bikie" one night when we parked it...just like GranBarb said. Boy, she and Daddy really liked that...but I decided not to use any more multiple syllable words while she was here. I'm just storing them up for later use."
"Our hallways are great places to play 'where's Oliver.'
"Daddy was gone to his Annual Conference three days while GranBarb was here. I was glad when he came back. GranBarb says we two get pretty roudy together."
"I tried my best to show GranBarb a good time while she was here. I could just tell it was getting close to time for her to go back to Indiana, so I gave her lots of attention and my own special forehead-to-forehead hugs that last evening. She kept loving on me too."
"See you soon!"
This is fun, Barb. Thank you so much for taking, curating, and narrating these terrific photos of Oliver.
