A God-incident !

At noon today, I had just finished the final editing of my friend Paul's manuscript. I had written him a cover letter explaining what I had done and noting that I left an area marked in red at the end of chapter 7 that he would need to address. I was going to phone Paul after lunch. ~~ Bill brought in our mail and there was our Christmas card from Paul and Mary. Inside he had enclosed a quote from C.S.Lewis with a note to me, "Barb, Could you tuck this in my book somewhere?"
It was perfect for the end of chapter 7!
God is good...

my thought for today

Let 'TRUST' and 'THANKFULNESS' get you through this day.
TRUST - protects you from worry and obsessing
THANKFULNESS - keeps you from criticizing and complaining
(from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young)

(I took this picture looking out the window of the Church of Transfiguration outside of Jackson Hole, Wyoming - June 2006.  What an awesome scene!)

the Horseshoe Nebula in Orion

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?    Psalm 8:3 & 4

(from my Sunday School lesson this week - - - - - - - I'm utterly amazed!)
The Horsehead Nebula in Orion appears as a pinkish cloud covered in stars reaching up into the heavens, resembling a horse's head.  This gorgeous mass of stars and gases is 1500 light years from Earth, which means that the light we see from it today left the nebula when the Roman Empire still ruled.  At the top of the nebula is a little bump.  That "bump" is a star nursery daily pulsing out new stars bigger than our sun.  The nebula resides in the Orion Nebula in an arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. At least 153 new galaxies are currently forming there.

A serendipity (unexpected surprise)

I try to start each day journaling and praying.  This morning I wrote in my journal, "Good morning, Lord.  Give me joy for this day.  Let me rest in you."  Then I stopped to meditate.  I glanced down the page of my journal where there is always a Scripture verse for the day.  My Scripture for today was Exodus 33:14 The Lord replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."  I love it when things like that happen!  Thanks, God!

The 23rd Psalm - my paraphrase

Jesus - my guide, guard, protector;
He meets all my needs.
He brings me peace.
He leads me.
He restores me.
He guides me.
Even when I face dark valleys
I will NOT fear
for He is with me.
His presence, His Word, His loving care
will bring me comfort.
Amen
